Day 01: Queen Alia Airport (Welcome to Jordan) – Amman

Day 02: Amman – Umm Qais – Ajloun – Jerash – Amman

Breakfast, you will be transferred from your hotel to the north of Jordan for full day visit of Umm Qais, Ajloun, and Jerash.
Back to your hotel in Amman for Dinner and Overnight.

 

From Amman to Umm Qays

Umm Qays (the ancient name of Gadara), one of the Roman cities – Decapolis. It’s located in front of the Golan plateau on the border between Jordan, Syria and Israel.
Superbly perched high on a hill overlooking the Jordan Valley and the Sea of Galilee,

Umm Qays is site of the famous miracle of the Gadarene swine, Gadara was renowned in its time as a cultural centre. It was the home of several classical poets and philosophers, including Theodorus, founder of a rhetorical school in Rome, and was once called “a new Athens” by a poet. Perched on a splendid hilltop overlooking the Jordan Valley and the Sea of Galilee, Gadara is known today as Umm Qays, and boasts an impressive colonnaded street, a vaulted terrace, and the ruins of two theatres. You can take in the sights and then dine on the terrace of a fine restaurant with a breathtaking view.

 

From Umm Qays to Ajloun

Visit the fortress of Ajloun (Qala’at El-Rabbad), it was built by the Arabs of the Ayyubid Dynasty (AD 1185) as a defense against the Crusaders and was formerly surrounded by a sixteen-meter wide ditch with a drawbridge.

Jerash (Gerasa), without doubt one of the most beautiful Roman cities preserved in the Near East, the city of 1000 pillar. After Petra, Jerash is the second largest tourist destination in Jordan. The ancient city of Jerash can proudly situate the beginning of its occupation by men to more than 6500 years. Conquered by General Pompey in the year 63 BC, it passed under Roman control and became one of the ten great Roman cities composing the Confederation of Decapolis. Our local guide will introduce you to his colonnades, temples, theaters, churches, cardo-maxims and other monuments.

Mount Nebo; start your visit from the sanctuary which is probably the place of death and burial of the Prophet’s Moses. It is one of the most holy places in Jordan, it was the place for pilgrimage for the first Christians.
The first church was built in Mount Nebo in the end of the 4th century AD to mark its historical importance.
From a platform in front of the church, you can see a bronze memorial of a snake on a cross that Symbolizes the serpent raised by Moses in the desert, as well as the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

 

From Mount Nebo to Madaba

Madaba; this city is a gift among of many churches which are decorated with mosaics, hence its name came of City of the mosaic.

The city today is home to around 170,000 people and continues to boast a number of restored 19th century Ottoman buildings, restaurants, places to stay, and the like. But it is undoubtedly Karak Castle that dominates.
